Wesley Matthews named a Duke Energy Scholar

Wesley Matthews has been named a Duke Energy Scholar for 2010-11 by the Wake Forest University Scholarship Committee. The scholarship was awarded to two undergraduate students majoring in the sciences or mathematics. The award is to recognize and encourage, in collaboration with a faculty member, development of new or evolving existing research.

Wesley recently joined Prof. Thonhauser's research group, where he is studying novel hydrogen-storage materials from first principles. The group of Prof. Thonhauser conducts research in theoretical and computational condensed-matter physics with a focus on the development of ab-initio electronic-structure methods and their application to bio-, nano-, and energy-related materials.
