Claire McLellan named a Duke Energy Scholar

Claire McLellanClaire McLellan has been named a Duke Energy Scholar for 2010-11 by the Wake Forest University Scholarship Committee. The scholarship was awarded to two undergraduate students majoring in the sciences or mathematics. The award is to recognize and encourage, in collaboration with a faculty member, development of new or evolving existing research.

Claire is investigating novel organic semiconductors for plastic electronics applications, in Prof. Jurchescu’s group. Her research focuses on the structure-property relationship in organic crystalline solids, and development of high performance thin-film transistors using solution-based approaches.

She has obtained an international REU fellowship from the National Science Foundation (NSF) and spent the summer in Japan, performing research at The National Nanotechnology Infrastructure Network (NNIN), in Japan.
