Wake Forest University is one of the premier liberal arts institutions in the South. The University has a long-standing commitment to academic excellence, and this is reflected in the dedication of the chemistry faculty to excellence in both teaching and research. As part of the University’s commitment to academic excellence, it has built a strong chemistry graduate program that maintains those features which make Wake Forest University unique, namely limited class sizes and close interaction between faculty and students.

Wake Forest University has a rich tradition going back to its founding as a college in 1834. At the present time, its enrollment consists of about 4,000 undergraduates and 1,800 graduate and professional (law, medicine, and business) students. The main campus is a wooded 300-acre site on the northwest edge of Winston-Salem surrounded by numerous scenic walking and jogging paths, grassy picnic areas, and a beautiful public garden. An important part of the Wake Forest tradition is its continuing emphasis upon academic excellence.
