Introduction

The Wake Forest University Print Collection consists of prints from the 15th century to the late 20th century, by artists such as Chagall, Durer, Goya, Rembrandt, Matisse, and Picasso. It was begun by Dr. Sterling Boyd, the chair of the Art Department, in 1969 and has been enriched by the generosity of the Mary Reynolds Babcock Fund as well as individual donors. The collection is housed in the A. Lewis Aycock Visual Resources Library in the Scales Fine Arts Center of Wake Forest University. The main purpose of the collection is to provide material for undergraduate education: classroom lectures, research, and reports.

Essays on selected prints were written by students in Dr. Bernadine Barnes' History of Prints Class.  Special thanks to Martine Sherrill, Print Collection Curator, and Kendra Weaver, Visual Resources Technician.
