Assignments

The page count requirement is based on:

  • Line spacing: 1.5-spaced
  • Font: Times New Roman 12-point
  • Page Margins: max. 1" top and bottom, 1.25" left and right

Tentative list of writing assignments:

  • Short paper #1 (2-3 pages) regarding space in the computer game
  • Short paper #2 (3 pages) regarding time in the computer game
  • Full paper #1 (8-9 pages) of formal analysis of a computer game written in the style of scholarly articles
  • Full paper #2 (7-8 pages) on the social/psychological aspects of the computer game
  • Short paper #2 (3-4 pages) and an oral presentation: A proposed entrepreneurial effort pertaining to computer games
  • Weekly pre-class writings (on average 1-2 times per week): on average 1-4 paragraphs based on the reading assignments of the topic to be discussed in class -- served as pre-class preparation for discussion
  • An interactive 3d animation project using Alice: animation + oral presentation

Tentative list of projects and oral presentations:

  • An oral presentation for short paper #2
  • Game programming exercises using Macromedia Flash ActionScript: Flash files
  • 3D modeling and animation in-class exercises using Maya
