Lectures

The class meets Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30 to 10:45am in Manchester 124.

Prerequisites and Course Motivation

Calculus. Beginning knowledge of linear algebra. Some beginning programming experience is needed. Matlab will be used for the computer projects. Prior experience in using Matlab is not a prerequisite. Practical applications of linear algebra will be emphasised.

Course Text

Problem Sets, Exams & Grading

There will be 3 problem sets (mostly computer projects), informal homework, a midterm (written), and a final exam (comprehensive). Homework effort will be used to resolve marginal grade cases. Course grades will be determined using the following weighting: Projects and Problem Sets - 3 at 10% each, Midterm - 30%, and Final Exam - 40%.
